DoubleClick offers a variety of technology-based solutions that rely upon a solid network connectivity infrastructure for their delivery, such as online advertising, search engine marketing, affiliate marketing, email marketing, database marketing, data management and marketing resource management. In addition, the company requires a robust communications platform for the rapid and reliable exchange of data between the company's 22 offices around the world.
The new agreement with Equinix will enable DoubleClick to expand operations to additional Equinix IBX centers, where it will directly connect to a critical mass of leading Internet companies, including all of the top carriers, networks and ISPs. To facilitate this interconnection, DoubleClick will utilize Equinix GigE Exchange™, a service that provides an efficient central switching fabric to create links between the aggregation of companies operating in Equinix's centers. By centralizing network connectivity operations within Equinix's Internet hubs, DoubleClick can avoid the cost and complexity of reaching its network service provider partners in multiple locations and across great distances. It can also eliminate intermediate network backbones by establishing a more direct route between packet origin and destination, bringing content closer to end-users and enhancing performance.
Equinix's premium data center and exchange services provide a redundant and secure infrastructure for content intensive organizations to base their operations. The power operations of each center include a high-performance backup system that ensures uninterrupted power even in the event of utility power disruption. Equinix's HVAC systems provide industry-leading environmental control, including the ability to accommodate the latest in high power density equipment such as blade servers. Security features include interlocking "mantrap" doors, multiple layers of biometric hand-geometry scanners controlling access, as well as 24-hour security officers and hundreds of surveillance cameras.
"After a strong relationship over the past two years, Equinix has become a strategic partner in DoubleClick's day-to-day operations," said Greg Tagaris, VP of Operations for DoubleClick. "Equinix provides a high-performance platform with a unique aggregation of the networks that we rely upon to support the delivery of our services to customers, along with an exceptional level of customer support."
"As a visionary leader in electronic marketing, DoubleClick has quickly grown and placed increasingly more emphasis on the infrastructure that supports the reliable and expedient delivery of their electronic services," said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "Equinix GigE Exchange is an important part of that infrastructure by providing a convenient and centralized platform on which to interact with an aggregation of networks."
