Web Hosting Provider I-Cyberhk Boosts Service Reliability and Customer Confidence with Move to Equinix Hong Kong Data Center

Mar 16, 2005

Hong Kong — March 16, 2005 — Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centres and Internet exchange services, today announced that I-Cyberhk Technology Company, a Hong Kong-based Web hosting firm, will deploy the company's IT operations within Equinix's Hong Kong Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) centre .

I-Cyberhk (http://www.i-cyberhk.com/), one of the fastest growing Web hosting companies in Hong Kong, offers a comprehensive range of services including hosting, programming and Web design services to more than 4,000 small to medium sized companies in Asia Pacific. Because I-Cyberhk promises one free month of service to their customers should uptime fall below 98%, they have a very low threshold for outages and downtime. As a result, I-Cyberhk chose Equinix based on this need for a reliable network and data center infrastructure that ensures the highest levels of performance and uptime.

Previously located in Hutchinson Global Center, I-Cyberhk made the decision to relocate the network within Equinix's Hong Kong IBX to leverage the industry-leading security, environmental and physical infrastructure and service credibility of the IBX. Equinix's enterprise level support and stringent Service Level Agreements (SLA) allows I-Cyberhk to attract higher quality customers. By locating within Equinix's network-rich Hong Kong hub, I-Cyberhk establishes a direct, reliable and efficient means of interconnecting to an aggregation of networks. These direct interconnections allow I-Cyberhk to quickly and efficiently grow its operations with greater flexibility and offer a wider choice of options to customers. At the same time, it enables I-Cyberhk to deliver fault-resistant Web hosting services to a new market of customers, including co-location, dedicated servers and managed services.

In addition to co-location service, I-Cyberhk will also utilize Equinix's Switched IP Connectivity (S-IPC Lite) to connect to the Internet within the Equinix IBX. With SIPC Lite, I-Cyberhk will benefit from better network performance and optimal routing to any Internet destination.

"Due to the success of our services, we were in need of high-performance and high-availability bandwidth options as well as a robust physical infrastructure that can scale to accommodate our growing demand for additional data centre space," said Mr. Elec Ho, managing director of I-Cyberhk. "By deploying into Equinix's Hong Kong centre, I-Cyberhk can differentiate itself from other Web hosting providers by offering higher levels of uptime, as well as service level agreements for temperature, humidity and power which are not common in the IDC (Internet Data Center) market."

"Equinix is the leading neutral co-location player with more than 300 ISPs, carriers, content companies and enterprises in Asia alone," said Mr. Samuel Lee, country manager of Equinix Hong Kong. "As the Web hosting industry evolves with more demands for advanced platforms and applications, I-Cyberhk is well positioned to present its customers with a world-class quality data centre offering powered by Equinix."
