Equinix and SGDOD to Host First €œDay of Defeat Online Gaming Community Event in Singapore

Nov 21, 2005

Singapore — November 21, 2005 — Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centres and Internet exchange services, and Singapore Day of Defeat (SGDOD), the most popular Day of Defeat (DOD) online gaming community in Singapore, today announced that the first DOD online gaming community event in Singapore will take place on 2nd December, 2005. Equinix, the sole sponsor for this event, will provide the server and bandwidth services while SGDOD will manage the community event. More than 100 gamers are expected to participate in this inaugural event.

Pre-registered gamers can play the popular online game, DOD version 1.3, a Half Life Mod multiplayer, team-based game play set in the World War II European theatre of operations. Players are required to tackle goal-oriented missions in this game. The selected operation for this event, Winter DropZones, is “Operation Husky” which was the largest amphibious operation in World War II.

The state-of-the-art physical infrastructure and network-rich environment of Equinix's Singapore Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) centre offers a stable and secure platform that will ensure a reliable and high-performance experience for all event participants. With a presence in 11 key markets around the world, Equinix is the natural choice for online businesses that either have a regional presence or are looking at regional expansion to base their IT operations. Many online gaming companies, such as AsiaSoft, the publisher of MapleStory, have turned to Equinix to provide a high-performance network connectivity infrastructure that supports the latency-sensitive needs of online gaming.

“Since its inception in 2003, SGDOD has hosted online gaming events and outings catering to players ranging from students to working adults,” said Jason Yap, Founder of SGDOD. “As one of the largest gaming communities in Singapore, we strive to contribute to the local gaming scene by involving local sponsors such as Equinix and promoting responsible and ethical gaming behavior. Our senior members also help to cultivate talents and positive gaming attitude among the younger players.”

“Equinix believes in supporting local online initiatives, such as gaming and content, to encourage the growth of such communities,” said Lee Yoong Kin, Managing Director of Equinix Singapore. “Equinix's network neutral model, and the flexibility it provides, is one of the key reasons why gaming and content customers base their operations within our centres."

Interested participants can register for the event on the SGDOD website (www.SGDOD.com). To qualify for the event, players must attend a Boot Camp training on 25th November, 2005 in which they will be trained for their role in the game and can win prizes for outstanding play. Additional details are available on the SGDOD website.
