Civica's "Authority" service integrates the essential accounting, administrative, property, customer service, knowledge base and management functions of a local municipality. Local government is rapidly moving towards an e-Council business model that will feature 24 x 7 customer service and produce optimal staff productivity. For this model to succeed, the fundamental business practices of municipalities must work together in harmony. Civica's "Authority" solution is integrated by design to provide a single, complete framework for municipalities' IT systems. However, since it is provided as a managed software service, it requires a high-performance and reliable network connectivity infrastructure to deliver the highest levels of application response time to users.
Equinix's Sydney IBX centre offers immediate and direct access to an aggregation of leading carriers, ISPs, network service providers and other strategic partners within the same physical location. By operating within this ecosystem, Civica will have the opportunity to directly link with these companies, rather than connecting to them in multiple, disparate locations and over long distances. This direct connectivity drastically increases performance for business critical applications, such as "Authority," by reducing bottlenecks as data traverses networks.
"By moving to Equinix's IBX centre, we gain access to a network-rich facility that provides a secure environment in which we can quickly scale operations to meet our growing demand," said Colin Lillywhite, Civica's General Manager, Local Government Solutions. "Equinix removes the hassle of co-coordinating data communications across various multiple carriers, and it removes the responsibility of managing a complex data centre facility."
"By operating at Equinix, Civica will enjoy an extremely secure and redundant environment for hosting its managed services," said Doug Oates, Managing Director for Equinix Australia. "In addition to the performance benefits, Civica will also be able to drastically reduce overall network connectivity and data centre costs."
