JibJab Media Selects Equinix Data Center

Quality of Equinix Los Angeles Center and Access to Networks Enables JibJab to Scale Operations and Maintain Highest Levels of Uptime and Performance

Dec 8, 2008

Foster City, CA - December 8, 2008 - Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), a provider of global data center services, today announced that JibJab Media Inc. has moved the operations supporting the company's online content business to the Equinix Los Angeles-3 (LA3) International Business Exchange (IBX®) data center in El Segundo, CA. The move, from its previous deployment with another colocation provider, will enable JibJab to easily scale operations within a high-performance environment that offers immediate proximity to a large number of networks providing access to end-users.

JibJab, best known for its online political parodies, runs a subscription-based eCard service and, as a result, requires the highest levels of reliability and uptime for its paying customers. It also requires a data center environment that gives it the flexibility to quickly scale operations to accommodate the company's rapid growth and spikes in business.

“Equinix IBX centers are the best in the business, giving us the peace of mind that we don't need to worry about our data center and network connectivity infrastructure,” said Phillip Morelock, vice president of engineering for JibJab Media Inc. “After a thorough review of existing data center and network exchange solutions, we found Equinix to offer all of the qualities that we need for our online operations including high quality, professionalism, uptime, diversity, redundancy and ability to scale.”

In addition to its data center and interconnection services expertise, Equinix also offers a high-performance physical infrastructure that includes industry-leading security, power and environmental features. The power operations of each center include a backup system that ensures uninterrupted power even in the event of utility power disruption. Cooling and environmental control features enable deployment of the most demanding IT systems, including high power density equipment, such as blade servers. Security elements include interlocking "mantrap" doors, multiple layers of biometric hand-geometry scanners controlling access, as well as 24-hour security officers and hundreds of surveillance cameras.

By providing data centers where a dynamic ecosystem of network service providers operate, such as carriers, ISPs, DSL providers and cable operators, Equinix enables customers to cost-effectively execute strategic connectivity agreements within a highly secure and reliable environment. This interconnectivity with networks and other strategic service providers within the same physical location offers a compelling alternative to linking to multiple locations and across great distances. The result is a more streamlined path between content and end-users that improves performance and reduces the networking costs of a point-to-multipoint network connectivity infrastructure. It also provides JibJab with a breadth of network choices in the event of a service interruption to a primary provider.
