InfoRelay Online Systems Inc. Expands Capacity with Switch and Data in Northern Virginia to Scale its Business and Reach New Customers

Mar 24, 2010

TAMPA, Fla. - March 24, 2010 - Switch and Data (NASDAQ: SDXC), a leading provider of network-neutral data center and Internet exchange services, announced today that InfoRelay Online Systems, Inc., an IT solutions and connectivity provider, has expanded its capacity in Switch and Data's Reston, VA data center. InfoRelay scaled its infrastructure to keep up with demand for its server colocation and managed hosting services. InfoRelay also provides services on a dark fiber ring which interconnects multiple data centers in Washington, DC and the Northern Virginia technology corridor, and expects this expansion will help it reach new customers in the Switch and Data site.

InfoRelay was founded in 1995 to meet the software development, system analysis, secure bandwidth and connectivity solutions needs of small and medium business. InfoRelay operates an 80 gigabit per second redundant BGP network based on carrier-grade Cisco routers. The company has 10 primary network locations, located within Ashburn and Reston, Virginia, as well as Los Angeles and San Jose, California.

"InfoRelay chose to expand with Switch and Data due to our first-hand experience with the company's success in delivering great customer service and support in highly secure, reliable sites,” said Russell Weiss, President of InfoRelay. “Switch and Data's network-neutrality, flexibility in mixing cage and cabinet environments for our customers, and its capacity to support InfoRelay's projected growth were also critical in our decision.” Weiss also stated that this expansion would allow for InfoRelay to offer more flexible colocation options to its clients, including quarter cabinet and half cabinet colocation services.

InfoRelay serves over 100,000 Internet users through its core product lines and subsidiaries and is proud of its more than 95% annual customer retention rate. Core elements of InfoRelay's value proposition are personal service, highly secure software and services, redundant network architecture and 24x7 customer care and support. InfoRelay chose to align itself with a leading data center services provider to ensure its customers continue to receive great service and support.

“We are pleased InfoRelay has chosen to expand its highly regarded managed services business in our Reston, VA site and congratulate them on their success,” said Ernie Sampera, Senior Vice President and CMO for Switch and Data. “In addition, providing secure, high-bandwidth capacity in our data centers is a key element of our value proposition InfoRelay's IP transit and resilient, dark fiber connectivity to other important regional data centers provide more great choices for our customers.”

Switch and Data operates three data centers in Northern Virginia which are located on Sunset Hills Road in Reston, Tyco Road in Vienna, and Science Applications Court in Vienna. Northern Virginia is an important market for Internet data centers, due to strong demand coming from government, Internet enterprises, system integrators and other corporate technology customers. The AeA ranks Virginia as the state with the highest concentration of tech workers in the country. Switch and Data supports the interconnection requirements of high-tech companies by providing the broadest footprint of sites in major North American hub markets such as Dallas, Buffalo, Chicago, Miami, New York, Northern Virginia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto.
