Equinix Enhances Multicloud Networking with AWS, Enabling Enterprises to Quickly Connect Their Public Cloud Infrastructure via Private Connections

Equinix FabricĀ® Cloud Router with AWS Direct Connect on AWS Marketplace provides low-cost, quick-to-deploy connections for multicloud workloads

Aug 20, 2024

Earlier this year, Equinix announced the launch of Equinix Fabric Cloud Router, a virtual routing service designed to enhance performance and cost-efficiency as businesses expand their multicloud architecture. In line with Equinix’s aim to simplify multicloud networking for customers, Equinix Fabric Cloud Router with AWS Direct Connect is now available on the AWS Marketplace. This enables enterprises to quickly set up private, dedicated connections across their hybrid multicloud architecture.

Research from TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group in 2023 revealed that 94% of organizations are using multiple public clouds as they seek to optimize performance and scale applications.1 Fabric Cloud Router, a virtual routing service, helps enterprises easily connect applications and data across clouds and on-premises deployments. It provides an easy-to-configure, enterprise-grade, multicloud routing service that can be deployed in minutes. Fabric Cloud Router removes the costs and complexities of owning and operating a physical router or licensing a virtual router, improving application performance and reducing cloud costs.

According to a Canalys study, cloud marketplace revenues are expected to increase to US$45 billion by 2025, up 84% CAGR over five years.2 AWS Marketplace, a curated digital catalog, makes it easy for customers to procure, deploy and manage third-party software solutions and services. By making Fabric Cloud Router with AWS Direct Connect available in AWS Marketplace, Equinix is offering these advantages to those needing secure, private connectivity.

“The availability of Fabric Cloud Router on AWS Marketplace simplifies complex cloud-to-cloud and hybrid cloud networking challenges by allowing users to easily procure and deploy this multicloud routing service in near real time,” said Arun Dev, Vice President of Digital Interconnection at Equinix. “Equinix has a rich history with AWS, having hosted the first AWS Direct Connect connection in 2011 and tens of thousands since. This is an exciting evolution of our partnership, combining Equinix’s commitment to cloud and the ease of buying and managing solutions on AWS Marketplace giving customers fast, simple and secure access to the digital infrastructure.”

“Equinix Fabric Cloud Router with AWS Direct Connect provides customers a toolset to deliver private and dependable connectivity between clouds,” said Emad Benjamin, General Manager for AWS Direct Connect. “The availability of Fabric Cloud Router on AWS Marketplace is a win for our joint customers who are seeking easy access to secure, performant cloud-to-cloud connectivity either for data migration or multicloud architectures.”
